Senior Support Services Donor and Volunteer Thank You & Debt Retirement Celebration

There was much to celebrate on July 16th, 2015! Not only did we “burn our mortgage”, we also presented John Kottenstette with a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award for his many tireless years of service to the homeless. We also announced that because of a generous three-year grant we recently received from the Fund II Foundation, we have been able to hire two new full-time case managers, make some much needed improvements to our center, expand services to our clients, and retire our debt!

Thank you to all who attended, and to everyone who has supported us over the years! Special thanks to Dan & Yoshi for the wonderful music & Pat MacDonald for opening his home to us!

Have You Seen Our New Garden?

One of the wonderful improvements at Senior Support is our new garden on Emerson Street.  We now ave beautiful flowers to enhance our neighborhood and fresh vegetables to supplement our meals.  It’s also a place where clients and neighbors can stop and reflect as they enjoy green growing things.  The garden has proven therapeutic for our clients who are charged with tending it.

Thank you to the generous donors who made it possible:  The Fund II Foundation, Strait Lumber, AEM Labor & Landscape LLC., Julie Webber, The Vintage Vegetable, The Grow Haus, Scott Midgley and Amy Sbrack.

Welcome Wil and Melissa!

We are excited to introduce our new full-time case managers, Wil Kemp & Melissa Rapp. Wil had been interning at Senior Support while working on his MSW at Metro State College.  We were pleased to add him to our team after his graduation in May.  Melissa just returned to Denver after working in Vermont for two years in a residential program for homeless youth.  She has six years of nonprofit experience.  We are happy to have both of you
